Epoxy floor maintenance: the 5-minute routine
One of epoxy's best features is how little it asks of you. No sealing schedules, no grout scrubbing, no waxing. Here's the whole routine — and the few things to avoid.
The weekly routine
Dust mop or soft-bristle sweep. For grime: warm water with a squirt of clear ammonia or a pH-neutral cleaner, applied with a microfiber mop. That's genuinely it — the non-porous surface releases dirt instead of holding it.
What to avoid
Citrus and vinegar cleaners (they dull the gloss over time), soap-based cleaners (they leave a hazy film), and abrasive pads. Wipe up battery acid or harsh solvents promptly — the floor resists them, but no finish loves sitting under chemicals.
Long-term care
Rinse off grit after beach or job-site days (grit is the enemy of any gloss), use soft pads under heavy steel furniture, and if the sheen ever dulls after many years, a fresh top coat renews the whole floor for a fraction of a redo.
