How to choose an epoxy flooring contractor
Most epoxy failures come down to the contractor, not the product. Asking a few pointed questions before you hire tells you almost everything about whether a floor will last. Here's what to ask and why.
Ask how they prep
The right answer is diamond grinding — not acid etching or a quick clean. Grinding creates the rough profile epoxy needs to bond. If a contractor doesn't grind, keep looking; prep is 80% of a floor's lifespan.
Ask if they moisture-test
In South Florida this is critical. A good installer tests every slab (ASTM F2170 / F1869) and adds a vapor barrier when needed. If they don't test, your floor is a gamble on our high water table.
Ask about materials, warranty and insurance
Confirm they use 100%-solids resin with a UV-stable top coat, not a thin water-based kit. Ask for a written warranty and proof they're licensed and insured. Real answers here signal a real professional.
